Notes on Virginia
- Unofficial results from the Virginia Department of Elections results API (isOfficialResults=false; reporting asOf 2026-11-05T13:52:27.0734576Z). Not certified.
- Redistricting: the April 21, 2026 redistricting referendum was voided by the Supreme Court of Virginia on May 8, 2026 (per the Department of Elections results page), so the 2026 election used the existing 2021 court-drawn congressional map.
- Every locality in every district had reported per the API (VA-01 18/18, VA-02 8/8, VA-03 5/5, VA-04 15/15, VA-05 24/24, VA-06 23/23, VA-07 11/11, VA-08 4/4, VA-09 28/28, VA-10 7/7, VA-11 2/2). pctReporting is null because the source gives localities reporting, not a share of expected vote; post-election (provisional and late-arriving mail) ballots may still be added.
- Vote totals are the statewide contest summaries; each district's candidate votes sum exactly to the API's voteTotal. The precinct-level 'Election Results' CSV on the same site was not used because it excludes some central absentee/post-election groups.
- VA-05 (McGuire R +7,844 over Perriello) is uncalled by NBC and AP as of 2026-11-05. The VA-01 and VA-04 calls come from NBC News Decision Desk projections, confirmed on each district's NBC results page (first inferred from NBC's statewide tally). The AP had not called VA-01 as of 2026-11-04. Race calls come from news reports only.
- Verification 2026-11-05 ~14:30Z: every candidate total in every district was re-fetched from the official source and matched this file exactly; race calls were re-checked against NBC News district pages and news reports.
- VA-05: CNN projected the R winner by 2026-11-05T17:35:47Z; the Polymarket-odds call was replaced with CNN's projection.
