Notes on Ohio

  • OHIO VOTE DATA IS MOSTLY MISSING. The Ohio Secretary of State results site (liveresults.ohiosos.gov, www.ohiosos.gov) returned HTTP 403 'Website Maintenance' to our collector and a bot-verification interstitial to a third-party fetcher; county board sites hosted under boe.ohio.gov (most of Ohio's 88 counties, plus liveresults.boe.ohio.gov county widgets such as Franklin's) were equally blocked. We did not attempt to circumvent these blocks.
  • Only Cuyahoga County's board publishes on a separately hosted platform that was reachable. OH-11 (Cleveland and inner suburbs) lies entirely in Cuyahoga County, so its Cuyahoga totals are the complete district count. OH-07 is only partly in Cuyahoga (it also covers Medina, Ashland, Wayne and other counties): its entry is 'partial' and contains only the Cuyahoga portion — the margin shown for OH-07 is NOT the district margin.
  • Cuyahoga status at fetch time (asOf 2026-11-04T16:42Z): all precincts 'election night complete' (565/565 for OH-11, 332/332 for OH-07's Cuyahoga part); provisional and post-election-day ballots not yet reported. pctReporting is null because the source gives no % of expected vote.
  • The 13 other districts are written with dataStatus 'missing' and votes null. Candidate names and ballot parties for those seats come from Ballotpedia. Ballotpedia also prints vote counts, but they are cited to NYT/Decision Desk HQ results pages (licensed data we must not reuse) and are clearly stale/partial snapshots (e.g. it showed OH-11 at 85,385 total votes vs 263,344 in Cuyahoga's own count), so they were NOT used.
  • Ohio uses new congressional lines in 2026 (map adopted October 2025); district numbers here refer to the 2026 lines.
  • Declared write-in candidates listed by Ballotpedia with no reported votes are omitted from missing seats. OH-07's Cuyahoga count includes a combined 'Write-in' line (1,228).
  • Verification pass (2026-11-05T14:10Z): every race call was re-checked against NBC News Decision Desk district results pages. All called seats are projected there for the same candidate, so callSource now names NBC News. Seats NBC has not projected stay uncalled.
  • Verification pass (2026-11-05T14:00Z): the Cuyahoga Enhanced Voting feed was re-fetched (unchanged, asOf 2026-11-04T16:42Z) and the OH-07 and OH-11 candidate totals match this file exactly. Cuyahoga's 897 precincts split 332 (OH-07) + 565 (OH-11), and OH-11's Cuyahoga total equals the media-reported district total, which confirms OH-11 is complete. The Ohio SOS results site still serves a bot-check page (HTTP 403) to this collector.
  • OH-10 (Turner vs Knickerbocker) remains uncalled: neither NBC News nor Ballotpedia had projected it as of 2026-11-05T14:10Z.
  • Seats OH-01–OH-06, OH-08–OH-10 and OH-12–OH-15: vote counts from CNN's results page (media tally) because the state's official results were unavailable when collected.
  • OH-07: county-only partial count replaced with CNN's full-district media tally (2026-11-05T15:18:28Z).
  • OH-11: county-only partial count replaced with CNN's full-district media tally (2026-11-05T15:18:28Z).
