Notes on New Jersey

  • New Jersey's Division of Elections does not publish election-night or unofficial results ('The best source for election night results are the local county websites'), so district totals are the sum of the unofficial results published by each of the 21 county clerks, using the county result links listed on the Division's election-night results page.
  • 15 counties publish via Clarity ENR; their summary.json feeds were read directly: Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Union. Six counties publish elsewhere: Bergen (clerk's PDF summary 'Early Voting, Election Day & Partial Mail-In as of 11/4'), Camden (clerk's unofficial results PDF, 11/04/2026 3:52 PM), Hunterdon (clerk's unofficial results-by-municipality PDF, 11/04/2026 3:35 PM; the 26 municipal totals were summed), Salem (clerk's livevoterturnout ENR page, updated 11/4/2026 4:21 PM; county total equals the sum of its 59 district rows), Sussex (clerk's countywide summary PDF, 11/04/2026 1:37 PM), Warren (clerk's summary PDF as of 11/4/2026 4:11 PM; the site blocks command-line downloads, so the PDF text was extracted in a browser).
  • Counties included per district: NJ-01: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester; NJ-02: Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, Salem; NJ-03: Burlington, Mercer, Monmouth; NJ-04: Monmouth, Ocean; NJ-05: Bergen, Passaic, Sussex; NJ-06: Middlesex, Monmouth; NJ-07: Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, Union, Warren; NJ-08: Essex, Hudson, Union; NJ-09: Bergen, Hudson, Passaic; NJ-10: Essex, Hudson, Union; NJ-11: Essex, Morris, Passaic; NJ-12: Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, Union.
  • Counts are mid-canvass and include mail-in ballots only as far as each county had tallied them (Bergen explicitly reports 'partial mail-in'; several Clarity counties still show precincts outstanding, e.g. Burlington CD3 372 of 415, Cumberland 91 of 106). County update times range from 11/3 ~10:40 PM to 11/4 ~4:30 PM ET, so districts mix counties at different stages of counting.
  • Write-ins: generic write-in totals and individually named write-in lines (Burlington, Bergen, Cumberland list individual write-in names) are combined into one 'Write-ins' entry per district. Bergen write-ins = contest 'Total' minus the ballot candidates (CD5: 157; CD9: 55).
  • Party codes: unaffiliated petition candidates are coded I; Andres Jinete (NJ-12) is coded G because Middlesex labels him 'GRE'. NJ-08 had no Republican on the ballot.
  • pctReporting is null: no county reports % of expected vote.
  • Race calls: NBC News Decision Desk projections as shown on nbcnews.com on 2026-11-05 (vote counts NOT taken from NBC), except NJ-02, which NBC had not projected: The Hill reported a Decision Desk HQ call for Zack Mullock (D) and Rep. Jeff Van Drew conceded on election night (CBS Philadelphia). Incumbency flags follow NBC News candidate metadata (NJ-11 Analilia Mejia won the April 2026 special election; NJ-12 is open).
  • Verification 2026-11-05T14:20Z: all 15 Clarity county feeds were re-read (no newer versions with changed House counts), and the Bergen, Camden, Hunterdon, Sussex and Warren PDFs and the Salem ENR page were re-fetched (same files/values; Hunterdon re-summed over 26 municipalities). Every district total matched. The NJ-02 Decision Desk HQ call could not be re-confirmed directly (The Hill and DDHQ blocked automated access); NBC News still lists NJ-02 as not projected.
