Notes on Massachusetts
- (Superseded: every seat now has CNN media-tally votes; see the later notes.) NO VOTES RECORDED. Massachusetts does not publish statewide unofficial election-night results: the Secretary of the Commonwealth posts results on electionstats.state.ma.us (PD43+) only after certification, and as of 2026-11-05 ~14:00Z that site lists 2026 primary and special elections only. Results are reported by 351 municipal clerks; summing them was not feasible, and media results pages use licensed AP/DDHQ data. All 9 seats are dataStatus 'missing'; candidates are from the SOS 2026 State Election ballot list, with votes null.
- MA-02 (McGovern), MA-05 (Clark) and MA-07 (Pressley) are uncontested: one candidate on the ballot. Massachusetts prints votes for unopposed candidates (and accepts write-ins), so these seats will have ballot votes once results are posted (noBallotVotes=false).
- The SOS ballot list shows no party label for Richard E. Neal; he is the incumbent Democrat and 2026 Democratic primary winner (electionstats), so he is coded D. 'Independent'/'Unenrolled' candidates are coded I. MA-06 is an open seat (Seth Moulton ran for U.S. Senate).
- Race calls: NBC News Massachusetts House results page lists 9 Democratic seats won (read 2026-11-05). Decision Desk HQ winner projections for MA-01, 03, 04, 06, 08 and 09 were also seen in a web search summary; only the calls were used, not DDHQ vote data.
- Recommended refresh: electionstats.state.ma.us exposes per-election CSV downloads once the 2026 State Election is posted (search URL .../elections/search/year_from:2026/year_to:2026/office_id:5/stage:General).
- Independent verification 2026-11-05 ~14:25Z: electionstats.state.ma.us still shows no 2026 State Election (Nov 3) results (latest 2026 entries are the Sep 1 primary and specials); SOS 2026 State Election candidate list re-read and matches all 9 districts (Neal listed with no party designation; he won the Sep 1 Democratic primary 49,927-42,488 per electionstats). NBC marks all 9 districts "Projected winner" for the Democrat (uncontested MA-02/05/07 show 0% in, as AP does not tabulate them).
- Re-check 2026-11-05 ~15:00Z: electionstats.state.ma.us General/U.S. House search still returns no 2026 candidates; Wikipedia 2026 MA House page has only primary result boxes (no general-election numbers); Ballotpedia district page shows no general-election results. All 9 seats remain missing.
- Seats MA-01, MA-03, MA-04, MA-06, MA-07, MA-08, MA-09: vote counts from CNN's results page (media tally) because the state's official results were unavailable when collected. MA-02 and MA-05 (uncontested) remain missing: CNN shows 0% in / 0 votes because AP does not tabulate them. MA-07 is uncontested and only 40% expected vote in. (Superseded at the 17:35Z refresh: CNN now reports votes for MA-02 and MA-05.)
- Refresh 2026-11-05T17:35:47Z: replaced with CNN's media tally because it had counted more votes than the previous source: MA-01 (259,379 -> 266,238), MA-02 (0 -> 17,547), MA-03 (240,903 -> 251,125), MA-04 (254,739 -> 285,553), MA-05 (0 -> 206,925), MA-07 (103,232 -> 140,908), MA-09 (341,667 -> 347,603).
