Notes on Louisiana
- Votes come from the JSON feed behind the official LA SOS results site: https://voterportal.sos.la.gov/ElectionResults/ElectionResults/Data?blob=20261103/Votes_Multiparish.htm (candidate names from RacesCandidates_Multiparish.htm, feed WriteTime 2026-11-05T05:00:31). Unofficial (ResultsOfficial=0).
- Verified system: the Nov 3, 2026 U.S. House contests were open (all-party) primaries (feed flags IsClosedParty=0, CanHaveRunoff=1). After the April 2026 Supreme Court ruling (Louisiana v. Callais) struck down the 2024 map, Louisiana used a new congressional map and held open primaries with a Dec 12, 2026 runoff where no candidate won a majority (per contemporaneous coverage).
- LA-05 (Firment R vs Moore D) and LA-06 (Banks D vs Miguez R) go to the Dec 12 runoff (feed outcome 'Runoff'); November-round votes are recorded with status 'runoff'.
- LA-01..04 winners are taken from the SOS feed outcome 'Elected' (majority winner).
- Party codes: NOPTY (no party) mapped to I; LBT (Libertarian) mapped to L.
- Precinct reporting (source gives no percent of expected vote, so pctReporting is null): LA-01: 522/522 precincts, 8/8 early/absentee reporting units; LA-02: 613/613 precincts, 10/10 early/absentee reporting units; LA-03: 571/571 precincts, 11/11 early/absentee reporting units; LA-04: 684/684 precincts, 15/15 early/absentee reporting units; LA-05: 791/791 precincts, 24/24 early/absentee reporting units; LA-06: 541/541 precincts, 11/11 early/absentee reporting units
- LA-05 (Letlow ran for Senate) and LA-06 (redrawn; Rep. Cleo Fields not on the ballot) have no incumbent on the ballot.
- Verification 2026-11-05 ~14:15Z: the SOS feed re-fetched at that time matched every candidate exactly. The AP has called LA-1 to LA-4 and has declared the LA-5 runoff (Moore D vs Firment R). For LA-6 the AP has NOT yet said which two candidates advance. The SOS feed marks Banks (D, 50,878) and Miguez (R, 50,213) as 'Runoff', but Edmonds (R, 49,241) is only 972 votes behind Miguez for second place. The seat goes to a runoff either way (no majority), so status 'runoff' holds, but the second runoff slot is not final until the count is certified.
